So proud of Klara being in the final of the BBC Young Jazz Musician 2024. What a Frajerica!

Unofficial coffee with Charles Williams at the Tate Britain café. Sadly it won’t be formalised as at least twelve month have to pass between official coffees with the same person. charleswilliamsstudio swiftcharles coffeewithdanieldevlin coffeewithdanieldevlin

Today Emil and I went for a Yugotrip, twenty minutes on bus 197 and we were outside Mystic Burek. We went in and Uroš welcomes us in SerboCroat: ‘Dobar dan, izvolite’, I ask him how did he know we would understand and he said that they are not called ‘Mystic Burek’ for nothing. We thought that maybe he spoke in SerboCroat to everyone but he spoke English to everyone else. I think the owner is Macedonian and author of the recipe book in one of the photos.Anyway, we had the most amazing pitas that were delicious, authentic and unusual at the same time.

We had the Creamed Spinach, Parmesan, potato + Kurdish chilli and the Smokey lamb and Ghee potatoes.

Emil had a Cockta and then we had a strawberry and cream strudel with two cups of builders tea. Emily also bought the Ajvar socks.

It all was very special. mysticburek keytarlegend
Testing out cheap Chinese lens. It feels like a toy but it’s quite good. Quite wide angle and small aperture but works well on a (rare) sunny day.

Fantastic ruins of the house on the island of Vele Srakane where Ivo Andrić, the author of ‘The Bridge on the Drina’ and Nobel prize winner is said to have lived during his childhood.susakexpo susakexpo2024 ivoandric
Ivo Andrić’s house, Vele Srakane. Some people claim that Ivo Andrić was born in Vele Srakane before moving to Travnik in Bosnia. This is most probably untrue as Andrić was born in October 1892 and there are no records of Andrić’s mother, Katarina Andrić, being in the Kvarner region until she and baby Ivo registered with the Austria-Hungarian authorities in Mali Lošinj in late 1893.

They lived in this very small house in Vele Srakane until October 1896 when they moved to Dolac, a village near Travnik (also part of Austria-Hungary at the time) and then to Sarajevo a few years later.

It felt very special to be close to the house where the author of Na Drini ćuprija lived as a baby and young child.
