ONE SELF PORTRAIT EVERY DAY in 2020 : 308

Today I will tell you about a petty crime I committed in my youth and will have to implicate my accomplice. It was 1998 and Katarina and I had left Italy to try and try out living in the UK, maybe stay in London for a couple of years and then move on. 

One evening we were out in Soho with Manu and we have coffees at Bar Italia. “I’ll get these” I said before being shocked about how expensive the coffees were, “In Italy we could go out for pizzas and it would work out cheaper than these coffees”. This was 1998, pre Euro.

I thought that for that price they should include the cups and saucers and that we should steal them. Manu was up for it (the others were not) and both of us walked out with our cups. 

22 years later, Manu still has them.
