Good morning

My great uncle Gino died of pneumonia in 1914 when he was only 18. He was a talented artist and I have three of his pencil drawings hanging in the kitchen and this post-card.

“Affettuosi saluti e tante cose belle. Tuo amico Emilio”

[literally translated: Affectionate greetings and many beautiful things]

And then underneath, someone added:

“Venerdì 24 Aprile 1914

Il povero Gino ha ricevuto questa cartolina 7 ore prima di morire e l’ha gradita tanto ed è stato tanto contento, la povera creatura!”

[Friday 24 April 1914

Poor Gino received this post-card 7 hours before he died and he liked it very much and made him very happy, the poor creature!]
